What is FileMaker?
FileMaker Pro is a powerful
database management system used worldwide. It runs on PC's, Macs, can be
shared on the Internet and on your LAN. For more information visit

Do I need to purchase
FileMaker to run your products?
For EPM 8.5 multiple user
systems you need 1 copy
of FileMaker 8.5 for each power user. Power users upload digital photos,
video and manage the product. However some users may view the file on the
Internet using a browser. However, for single user systems one copy of
FileMaker is included in the price. However this copy does not allow
sharing.
How much does
FileMaker cost?
You can get FileMaker at a
discount at our Amazon web store. Click here
for current prices. You need the least costly version of the client.
You do not need FileMaker Advanced.
How many users can
share your software products?
We don't limit the number of
users on our files. You can add accounts as you wish.
Generally, FileMaker 10 can host up to 9 simultaneous users with FileMaker
alone. If you plan to share with more than 9 at one time, you need a copy
of FileMaker server 10.
What is your Hosted
product? Can we host later?
Through a partnership with
FileMaker hosting services, Datatrium.com, we offer hosted versions of our
products on a monthly basis. You can open the file from the servers
as you would any file on your own LAN or server. The files are
accessible over the Internet, so they are available to share worldwide.
Our hosted plans offer low cost monthly convenience because we lease the
software to you over two years. You can purchase the software any
time and host it yourself.
How long have you been in business?
CAE Consultants Inc. was incorporated in 1983 in the
State of New York. It has been providing FileMaker and other
software products since 1995. All of our products can be customized
to suit your needs.
Do you provide Technical Support? And do you have to pay for this?
Yes we provide technical support. For hosted products, all support is
included in the low monthly price. For other installations we charge about
$40 per month for LAN. Most of our desktop users get free 60 days
support, and don't purchase additional support. The software is very easy
to user for desktop applications.
What if my hardware crashes and I lose the software?
Just contact us and we will arrange to have a replacement license. Cost
is $25 for the service. Replacements are issued if we can find you on our
database and confirm you purchased the product.
How do I get upgrades?
Upgrades are issued every year. We give clients the option to upgrade
and the cost is minimal. For interim releases, of the same version,
we upgrade you free via our support area. Our desktop products have
an upgrade button. We provide all of the instructions. Our hosted
clients get free upgrades. Usually we upgrade our hosted clients on off
times.
What if I need help getting started with my data entry
Both O&M Writer and our Preventive Maintenance software require that a
bulk of data be inputted into the system before you can get started.
This may be time consuming for our clients. Our engineers can do this for
you and we provide quotations over the phone.
What do you customize? How can we get our software integrated
with other systems?
FileMaker is a flexible product. We can fill nearly all requests.
For integrations with existing data, we may need access to your database.
We charge low fees to do FileMaker customizations. We can also integrate
other FileMaker applications or create new ones. Call us for a quotation.
We use a formal request process, that involves a requirements document to
be signed before we proceed with customizations. We take payment in
installments and no software is released until payment is completed.
